UK Pavement Light — UKP-150-100

A popular, versatile pavement light engineered for demanding locations and public areas.

UKP-150-100

UKP-150-100 pavement light installation showing glass lens grid pattern

The UKP-150-100 is suitable for use in virtually any location — including installations adjacent to highways.
It supports a 20 kN/m² long-term UDL and a short-term 75 kN concentrated load.

It is 4 inches thick (approx. 100 mm). Lenses are 100 mm square at 150 mm centres (50 mm concrete rib),
with optional sand-blasting for privacy and slip resistance.

Where spans are greater, a row of lenses can be omitted and a reinforced concrete beam formed.
Stainless-steel bars can be specified for condensation or frost conditions.

The UKP-150-100 provides one-hour fire resistance and achieves Class 0 spread of flame.

  • Thickness: 4″ (approx. 100 mm)
  • Lenses: 100 mm at 150 mm centres
  • Load: 20 kN/m² UDL; 75 kN concentrated
  • Options: Sand-blasted lenses; stainless-steel bars
  • Fire: 1-hour resistance; Class 0 flame spread

UK Pavement Light — UKS-150-100

A non-glazed, self-finish system with clearly marked break-out demarcation for fire conditions.

UKS-150-100

UKS-150-100 pavement light panel showing self-finish non-glazed construction

UKS-150-100 is capable of sustaining concentrated loadings of up to
75kNUDL (Ultimate Design Load).
It is a non-glazed, self-finish construction with reinforced ribs at
150mm centres and an overall panel thickness of 100mm.

Brass and stainless-steel demarcation strips, together with
bronze identification plates, are standard cast-in features to clearly mark the break-out area in the event of a fire.

  • Concentrated loading: up to 75kN
  • UDL: Ultimate Design Load (UDL)
  • Construction: Non-glazed, self-finish
  • Reinforced ribs: 150mm centres
  • Panel thickness: 100mm
  • Cast-in features: Brass & stainless demarcation strips; bronze ID plates
  • Weight: 185kg/m²

Access Hatches • Cellar Flaps • Cellar Doors

Bespoke manufacture and installation of access solutions — supplied alongside or instead of pavement light fixtures.

Bespoke Access Solutions

UKP access hatch and cellar flap example installation

UK Pavement Light provides a bespoke service to manufacture and install
access hatches, cellar flaps and cellar doors, supplied either alongside or instead of pavement light fixtures.
Units can be made in stainless or galvanised steel, or with
concrete/asphalt infill, and can be fitted with locks (operable from above or below).
Gas struts are fitted to assist opening.

  • Fire Escape / Access Hatches: Mild steel with stainless pivots set into a gutter frame with rainwater outlet (downpipe by others). Leaves can be glazed with non-slip finish, secured with an easy-release catch, and fitted with gas struts. Sizes from 650 × 750 mm minimum opening, increasing in 150 mm increments.
  • Cellar Flaps: Mild steel with glazed leaves or concrete/asphalt infill, set into a gutter frame with rainwater outlet (downpipe by others). Gas struts aid operation, with underside spring/shoot bolts, lifting hooks and guard bars. Gutters provide drainage in line with BS6367 (UKP can advise per installation).
  • Escape Ladders: Mild steel ladders with chequer plate treads and optional handrails, typically fixed at 60° where practical.
  • Maintenance: Metalwork can be galvanised before leaving the factory. Part B (B1) requires escape routes to remain usable, so ongoing maintenance is important. UKP can provide maintenance contracts; replacement parts are quoted before proceeding.

Cast Iron Pavement Light Restoration

Specialist restoration to return historic cast iron pavement lights to safe performance, structural integrity, and a clean, heritage-correct finish — while preserving original material and character wherever possible.

Heritage Restoration by UK Pavement Light

Restored cast iron pavement light showing heritage finish and renewed glazing

Cast iron pavement light restoration by UK Pavement Light is a specialist service designed to return historic pavement lights to full structural integrity, safe performance, and a clean, heritage-correct finish — while preserving as much original material and character as possible.

We begin with a detailed condition survey to identify corrosion, cracked castings, loose glazing bars, failed bedding compounds, water ingress, and any movement in the surrounding pavement. Where components are salvageable, the cast iron is carefully stripped back (typically by controlled blasting), treated to remove rust, and repaired using proven methods suited to period ironwork.

Once preparation is complete, all mating surfaces are re-bedded and sealed to restore weather-tightness and prevent future deterioration. Glazing panels or lenses can be renewed where required, and non-slip finishes can be introduced to improve safety while keeping the appearance sympathetic to the building.

Hinges, fixings, and load-bearing elements are checked and upgraded where necessary, and protective coating systems are applied for long-term durability in external environments. The result is a restored cast iron pavement light that looks right, performs safely, and is protected for years to come — extending service life while maintaining the integrity of the original design.

  • Condition survey: corrosion, cracked castings, loose bars, failed bedding and water ingress.
  • Careful preparation: controlled stripping/blasting, rust treatment and period-appropriate repairs.
  • Re-bedding & sealing: restored weather-tightness to prevent future deterioration.
  • Glazing & safety: renewed lenses/panels and optional non-slip finishes.
  • Upgrades where needed: hinges, fixings and load-bearing elements checked and improved.
  • Protective coatings: long-term durability for exposed external environments.

Re-sealing & Repair Services

Practical, on-site maintenance and repair services to protect your pavement lights and access systems — reducing water ingress and keeping components operating safely.

Repair & Maintenance by UK Pavement Light

UK Pavement Light repair and resealing work to prevent water ingress

Re-sealing and repair services by UK Pavement Light cover common causes of leaks, damage, and operational issues — completed efficiently and correctly to minimise disruption and put property owners’ minds at rest.

  • Re-sealing leaking bitumen joints: around pavement lights and smoke outlet panels to stop water ingress and restore weather-tightness.
  • Lens repairs & replacements: cracked, chipped, or damaged lenses carefully removed and replaced while maintaining safety, security, and a clean finish.
  • Emergency exit replacements: damaged emergency exits, cellar flaps, and fire escape hatches replaced (with or without glass block inserts) to ensure reliable operation.
  • 6-monthly maintenance schedules: cleaning, inspection, and servicing of fire escape hatches and cellar flaps to maintain peak operational performance.
  • Cast iron ventilators: supply and installation to help prevent damp and condensation in basements, improving fresh air flow without additional mechanical circulation.
